Lotus Elan Initial Build 10 - Factory Prototype Development car - Last Elan to leave Hethel?
Registered in 1996 on a "P" plate as new this very rare collectors Elan was one of the 10 initial builds, hand built to test the production line in 1989.
This example was removed from the line and held by Lotus until 1996 when it was sold off at the end of Bugatti"s ownership.
During its time in Lotus ownership it was taken from the handbuilt line and passed to Roger Becker and John Miles of powertrain engineering and emissions where it was used to develop the closed loop system for federal export models along with revised suspension and low end power output for the US market, the car was built to press car standard and used at the factory to demonstrate the model to VIP"s.
Later in life the car was used to develop the S2 and ended its factory life in the design studios dressed in prototype coupe set up.
The Elan has a modified factory ECU and wastegate.
Development springs just removed and fitted with reconditioned original UK set up, the car now sits lower than in these older photos.
Suspension fully set up alignment rig to factory spec adjusting toe, camber and castor settings, now drives superb.
4x New tyres just fitted
The Elan is in great condition with excellent seals, roof, interior and excellent paintwork. The chassis is also very good with perfect outriggers and A posts. Chassis treated with Dynax S50 cavity protection.
S2 Spec with Nardi Steering wheel, S2 wheels, interior and S2 hood along with very low mileage of just 34000. Fitted with the closed loop system and catalytic converter.
MOT’d with no advisories.
Car was stored for 10+years which helped keep mileage down.
Original toolkit, spare wheel and jack all unused.
HPI clear with report
Jacking points, outriggers and A posts all in rust free condition, wishbones etc all good.
