vehicle description:
Well unfortunately the time has come for me to sell my
incredible Lotus Elise 2006 111R. The deal was, I could have it until the baby
came along and with 7 days left till Due Date, I have left it as late as
possible!!
So, why a Lotus 111R? I looked at everything when I was
looking for a bit of weekend fun, and as you can expect ended up on the Elise.
So much fun, so reasonable, so attainable and so reliable…..Supercar fun with
Supermini bills, it was a no brainer & 30-40mpg!!!!
Then which model, my summation, and this is only my opinion:-
Standard Elise…..Not quite enough get up and go
111S – Rover engine (reliability concerns…read
the forums)
Superchargered – Unnecessary
Then there’s the 111R, the perfect blend of usable power
(189bhp), twin cam surge at high revs, few nice creature comforts (essential Air
Conditioning) the best ABS system ever, and the reliability of a Toyota Power House…..and
what a engine (more later)
So decision made, now to find the perfect car. After trying
numerous, I finally found this amazing example in SYTNER Specialist Cars. They
and the car were brilliant. Exactly as described. So I bought it and I have now
had my fun and the pram takes priority over the motor (wife will read this!) They think its all over........it is now...... :-)
The only modifications I have made are the wheels (now
powder coated high gloss black) and I had a 2Bular exhaust fitted. The only
thing the Elise missed was a growl, well now it has one. Forget boy racer
drone, this is a purpose hand built masterpiece. The engine note is Supercar
heaven, and when you hit the cam switchover point, oh my giddy Aunt, its just
epic!!!
SO the car:
Canyon Red Metallic – THE colour of the moment
(quite literally) gets commented on everywhere and is the new Mclaren P1 colour
(See last image)
2Bular handmade stainless steel exhaust – I cannot
explain, just try it – Have the standard exhaust too if you want it……
Full Lotus Service History (Last service Gray
Paul Lotus less than 3k miles ago)
Touring Pack
Probax Black immaculate leather sports seats (Don’t
buy one without these!)
Air Conditioning (Essential) Electric Windows…I
know, how posh…..Central locking!!!
Glass shine waxed & polished paintwork
(Truly beautiful – gets commented on everywhere I go)
Full Sytner transferable Warranty (This can be
renewed in October if required £480 for a further years cover!!!)
Beautiiful High Gloss Black powder coated alloys
(newly done)
New rear brake pads (It’s all that needed doing
when I had full check at Lotus after buying car!)
Lowered RPM Switchover point - This is a
necessary must - 6,200RPM is too high and means you have to rev car to death to
get performance - with this enhancement it gives you the kick lower down and
saves killing the engine. Perfection
Alpine CD Head unit & four speakers….don’t
worry about this, you won’t use it!
Simply superb condition inside and out
On top of all of this you have a depreciation proof legend
of a vehicle with a warranty. My opinion, is these have actually turned and are
on the way up, buoyant by the new car costing 40k and the rarity of the R
version.
I can only finish by saying you won’t
find better. It drives as a new car, the colour is sublime, the exhaust gives
the growl and the epic driving experience ……do not miss this one.
Car is ten minutes from Bristol.
