Rover 416 GSI
Offered for sale is my Rover 416 GSI in absolutely great solid condition. I bought this car for myself, to keep and get a head start on the market before they all start becoming unattainable like all them other british cars and bikes we thought would never become collectible.
I always wanted one of these and would"ve preferred a manual but this auto came up by luck to be honest and was so straight and honest I couldn"t pass up the opportunity.
I"ve lost my Lock Up due to the new owner of the site where it was based wanting to use it for there business and therefore I now have no where to store it.
This car has been stored in a garage all its life, with one previous owner being an older lady and was based on the Isle of Man. She passed away and this was sold from her estate by her son.
Log book, Original booklet and one original key are present along with a current M.O.T.
The car has well below average miles and I know everyone states it but this drives like new. Genuinely like new. It has had no expense spared in maintaining it and drives great.
The engine (Honda Lump) is sound, starts on the button and sounds great. No knocks, bangs or rattles, doesn"t burn any oil or coolant. Gearbox is smooth, pulls strong, doesn"t hesitate between gears and the kick down works perfect. Brakes are VERY good, strong. Tyres are all very good all electrics work.
Its just a very clean, straight car and I was genuinely chuffed with this find.
It has a completely original interior in great shape, no tears in carpets, no stains, sun roof doesn"t leak and has electric windows and even the original cassette player.
Underneath the car is as solid as above and a new exhaust has been fitted. (please see pic above)
There is a small bit of rot on the rear drivers side door pictured and this is the only rot on the body. I haven"t repaired or tried to cover it up to keep it honest. My original intention was to repair this and have this small area re-sprayed which you will get away without spraying the entire side due to its location. There are a couple of areas of lacquer peel which are easily repaired. (please see pic above)
I believe £500 spent on this will see it pristine again. I don"t have anywhere to carry out the work or to store it and I don"t want to see it go to ruin outside. This is the only reason I"m selling it.
Car is eligible for classic insurance and is fairly cheap to run or at least it is compared to what I"m used to running.
Not sure what else I can say. Come have a look. Any inspection welcome and bring your mechanic for a second opinion, No Problem.
