vehicle description:

I bought this car new from Mercedes in October 2013.
I specified almost every optional upgrade, including the white tridion, the subwoofer, the in-car entertainment system is top of the range and includes a 7 screen, Bluetooth 4 music input, DVD player, MP3 Disk player, USB Player (Memory stick etc), Full Sat Nav, and full touchscreen control.
The car has the full leather upgrade, and it"s very nice. The seats are heated.
There"s a large cubby storage on the passenger side. This was a paid extra, and my missus used is as a handy bin for wrappers etc.
I took all the airbag options, which include curtain airbags to the side and kidney airbags in the seats.
-------------The battery belongs to Mercedes and I have been leasing it for around £50 a month. This means that if the battery fails (drops below 80% efficiency) MB will replace it without cost. The buyer simply takes the car to a Mercedes dealership, where the battery will be tested and a new lease will be arranged. They will also arrange access to the Smartphone app and connect it to the car for you.
The car comes with two charge cables. One is portable, and is built into the back door (see pics), the other is the Pod Charger that needs a connection to the house (you"ll need a qualified electrician to fit this). The portable cable is barely used (2-3 times). It has a fast and a slow charge option. The slow option takes about 4.5 hours. The fast option is about 2.5 hours. The Pod charger will charge the vehicle in 2.5 hours, and has the additional benefit of being able to send electricity in both directions, allowing you to use the car to store electricity (from solar panels etc). I"ve never used this feature. Both cables lock to the car when you lock the car, which stops anyone pulling the cable out (anti vandal) of the vehicle. It"s not possible to drive the car with a cable connected.
Smart say the car will do 90 Miles on a single charge, but I"d say this is difficult. 80 miles is a more reasonable figure, if you"re driving carefully. If you"re not driving carefully and you"re using the heater on full, and lots of uphill (worse case scenarios) you"re looking at 68-74 miles or so. The Smartphone/tablet app shows you how well (efficiently) you"re driving, and will give you hints to extend the range. I created an account for the green charger thing, and I"ll include the card with the car. This lets you get a charge from pretty much any roadside charger for free.
Driving the car is easy. There are no gears. Two pedals, stop and go. The car has very fast acceleration. Around 7 seconds to 60mph.The car is silent, with a slight whine coming from the engine when accelerating hard. It"s eerily quiet, and even the indicators sound loud.
The car is super cheap to run. We"re paying around £1 to £1.20 for a full charge. There is no charge for road tax. You are sent a reminder for £0.00 which is quite nice. I"m 51 (no endorsements) and I pay £180 per year fully comp insurance with NFU. I"m told admiral are cheaper for electric vehicles.
The app will allow you to pre-warm or pre-cool the car whilst its on the charge cable. This is nice for winter mornings. The app has lots of other features such as vehicle finder (if it"s lost in a car park), a vehicle tracker (against theft), a charge timer to take advantage of off-peak tariffs A status page for range, remaining battery, charge time remaining (with alarm). An Eco display showing driving style for Acceleration, Steady driving and Coasting, all of which impact efficiency/range.
I have a small business repairing home user computers, so I"m driving around the area collecting and dropping computers off all day. When I get home I plug in (assuming I"m home for at least 30 mins). I"ve never run out of power. The manual says theres a regular car battery in the front, and the vehicle will use this to get to safety if necessary. It"s 20 miles at 20mph.
It"s been a fantastic car, and it"s a shame to lose it. I"ll be commuting to the midlands so I"m going back to a smoky old diesel and filling up at Sainsburys again (ugh)
Cash on collection preferred. Cheques will need to clear prior to releasing the vehicle.
