I brought my Chimaera in Jan 2013. I was looking for a good honest original 5.0 (I wanted the extra grunt) that I could drive and enjoy and then maybe do a more extensive cosmetic restoration. Unfortunately other projects are running behind schedule so the TVR has to go. The car has done just 58500 miles, starts, stops, runs great but does need some work for the MOT.(I put it through a test this week to identify issues). I"ve also listed the other jobs I know about.
History: Supplied new from HR Owen in Dec 94. Starfire blue, black 3/4 hide. Original Handbook, 2 sets of keys and immobiliser fobs, old MOTs and loads bills and service history. HPI clear.
Bodywork: Original paint in great condition for age. TVR central replaced hood in 2013. Now starting to age but still very tidy. Windscreen is starting to delaminate around edge but fine for MOT. Rear window fine.
Chassis: Solid - passed MOT inspection. Waxoyled by previous owner and to my knowledge ha never never been welded.
Engine: Runs well and plenty of power. It has some of the usual RV8 oil leaks. Sports cats, passed MOT emissions test this week. Upgraded aluminium radiator so no overheating issues - fans also cut in fine. The problematic standard immobiliser has been replaced by an Gemini unit so no hot start issues.
Steering: Not PAS ( PAS can be unreliable on a TVR) but steering doesn"t feel too heavy, comparable I"d say to my classic mini.
Brakes: New front calipers, pads etc fitted by TVR Power less than 4000 miles ago.
Transmission - New clutch from TVR power less than 4000 miles. Gearbox positive. Diff bushes replaced last year with polybushes.
Interior: Good overall condition but starting to show its age, tired but perfectly presentable. Leven aluminium dash trim, stalks and gear knob. 4 speaker upgrade. Electric windows work okay. Heater works but blower has seized during winter storage and will require replacing. Cold air blower works okay. I will include a DIY leather / plastic restoration kit I brought from a specialist.for £50.
Other: New wipers and arms. Wipers do not park (intermittent doesn"t work), rear tyres less than 3000 miles. Original spare wheel
Work required for MOT: Front tyres, attention to steering column (slight tight spots while turning), fibre glass under drivers seat needs attention i.e.rear bolts pulled through, OS rear brake caliper partially effective with handbrake.
Overall its a great car and I wish I had the time to sort it. TVRs are going up in value and this car could be a great investment.
The car is in Aldridge (West Midlands) and I would highly recommend viewing before bidding I will not negotiate on the winning bid price.
I would prefer the auction to run its course however I do reserve the right to end it early. In terms of payment I"d like £200 deposit within 24 hours (cash or paypal) and the balance paid within 7 days (cash or by direct bank transfer).
