I"ve made the difficult decision to put my 1994 Chimaera 500 up for sale. Sold new via HR Owen in Dec 1994, the car was one of the first Chimaeras to leave the factory equipped with the newly introduced 5.0 engine. The Owner"s Handbook shows that the original finish of Starfire Mica Blue paint with blue roof and black 3/4 hide trim to be correct.
I bought the car after it had been kept off the road for a year due to the previous owner not have the time to use it. Despite this, the car had considerable works undertaken during his ownership including a replacement roof from Central TVR in 2013 and a clutch assembly replacement later the same year. Since purchasing the car, I have overhauled the front suspension with all new lower wishbones, bushes and ball joints, fitted a new windscreen and given it a thorough service. As with the majority of TVR"s, the car has a bulk of service history and invoices to validate work done over previous years. The car comes with its owner"s handbook containing full service history up to 50,800 miles; 2 sets of keys; and the original tool kit.
In terms of paintwork, the metallic blue paint is in excellent condition. There is a small paint defect below the "Chimaera" badge (typically I use a PH sticker to cover the area!). The interior has aged well with the car, although the drivers seat is beginning to show wear.
Modifications have been kept modest to solely improves the car"s reliability/ driveability. The exhaust is standard with exception of pre-cat removal and a Gemini alarm system has been installed to prevent the hot start issue.
