This car has been owned by us for the last 2 years, it was purchased direct from a finance company as a repossession. I have a major soft spot for these and have owned in the region of 10 or more so decided I would throw some money at it and use it, with work commitments, two children and lets say a rather demanding wife this plan has not transpired in the way I hoped it would.
2 years down the line I"m around £3000 pound worse off (Please dont tell the wife if you meet her) and heading for a divorce if it doesnt go so here we have a very reluctant sale indeed...
The car is a 1997 P registration TVR CHIMAERA 4.0 V8 and is a good honest solid car. I have spent a fair amount of money on it, this is the list of things I have done;
Full respray. Not a cheap job, it cost £1800 and all panels were removed. Damage was not the reason for this, the colour prior was a flat none mettalic boring blue, a few scuffs and marks here and there which I thought warranted the work. Front discs and pads replacedRear discs and pads replacedFront lower wishbones replacedFront lower ball joints replacedWheels fully refurbishedNew plugs and leadsOil and filterNew track rod endsNew rear lights due to it having nasty aftermarket ones fittedNew wipersFull underseal of underside and inner wheel arches There has to be more but cant remember of the top of my head.
The car drives very well, pulls well and has no appetite for oil or water. I have only had it on the road since May this year which was when it was MOT"d.
The one thing left to do was the interior, these are not my forte and it would benefit from a carpet set and the seats could do with being reconilised, any trim doctor can do the seats for not a lot of money at all. The shape and condition of the leather is good enough for a quick revamp. Similar story with the carpets, they are not suffering with damp rot they are just a bit untidy around the seams in the main area of use. The dash and centre console are fine, a small amount of delamination the dash facia which is typical of one of these, again just depends how critical you are.
The car is available to view anytime and part exchanges are welcomed especially if its something oddball, at least then I can tell the wife its pureley for business!
Just to summarise this is a good honest car with much of the hard work complete, only minor tidying to make this a loveley example. Im in no rush to sell and the longer it takes to sell the longer I get with it. If its advertised she cant moan :0)
