Mileage is 119,800 (4,000 since engine rebuild)
I’ve
owned this car since May 2011 when it was pretty much standard. Over the last 5
½ years I have carried out the modifications listed below but now it’s time for
a change.
I
purchased a low mileage 145 VVC engine from a friend in 2014 and rebuilt with
all new parts as listed below -
· Piper 285 cam kit (cams, springs, spring caps, vernier pulleys &
blanking kit)
· Lightened (3.7kg) flywheel
· AP clutch
· Geotze liners
· Omega forged pistons
· Malhe VP2 big end bearings
· Malhe motorsport main bearings
· New OE oil pump
· New OE water pump
· New OE rod bolts
· New cam belt tensioner
· Front pulley machined
· New belts, gaskets etc.
The entire bottom end (crank,
flywheel, clutch cover, front pulley & rods) have been dynamically balanced
by Jason (Hellier performance) who also did the head work. It runs an older
Emerald M3D ECU with the later Titan DTHTB’s & Jenvey airbox with BMC CDA
filter. The engine was run in on the road for around 500 miles before being
set-up on the rollers with pre-run in session at Dyno-Tec in Ripley, it made
204.7bhp with around 150 lb/ft. A new Lamina water to oil cooler was installed
with the new engine and the oil is changed after every 2-3 track sessions and
runs Fuchs pro-race s 10/50.
Exhaust system comprises of a EBD
(Exhaust by Design) large bore 1 piece 4-2-1 manifold with 2Bular silenced
de-cat and 2Bular 8”x22” rear silencer.
Cooling system comprises of an aluminium
uprated radiator replaced in 2012 along with adding a PRT. A new header tank
and supplementary electric water pump was fitted in 2014 with manual over-ride
switch on a timer.
Close ratio gearbox with recent (June
2016) new Quaife LSD, output shaft bearings and clutch release bearing along
with new clutch master and slave cylinder with slave cylinder strengthening
bracket. Quick shifter with motorsport gear cables were fitted in 2012.
Suspension was refreshed in late 2011
with Gaz gold pros with 500F / 550R springs, New Nylatron wishbone &
anti-roll bar bushes, new ball joints, track rod ends and drop-links. The rear
toe-links are uprated type and the rod-ends were replaced in 2015 along with
the front drop-links. The car has the early aluminium front
hubs.
Braided brake hoses were fitted in
2012 and the brakes were upgraded in 2014/15 with ELISEparts aluminium belled
disks front and rear, brand new front callipers, new front & rear brake
lines along with new master cylinder. New front RC5+ and rear RC6 pads were
fitted in June this year.
Wheels are std. AWI running AD08s for
the road with a 2nd set of AWI’s with R888Rs for the track (rear
888’s are down to wear markers) Bodywork is generally very good and
only when up close you notice a crack on the front clam and the stone chips.
Seats are Corbeau LE Pro with Schroth 4 point harness. Additional Stack oil
pressure, oil temperature and water temperature gauges fitted in radio blank. Momo
removable steering wheel, front and rear tow eyes and hand-held fire
extinguisher.
As you can see the car is track
focused and is mainly used on track with the occasional weekend shakedown
drive. I’ve also competed in the LCUK speed championship this year for the 1st
time and the car has been very competitive in the Super-sport class with two
wins and two 2nd places in class.
