Welcome to my auction for a Lancia Thema Turbo 16v LS, I"ve put it up for sale as we need the space and it"s this or my delta that needs to go :/
I"ll start with a bit of history. The Thema came from an italian family who used the car for many years as a family car. It came up for sale with an overheating problem, I decided to buy it as I had one 10 years previous and wanted another. We got the car home and tested the expansion tank for exhaust gas... there was.
Got it booked in for the head gasket to be done, at the same time I requested the head to be very lightly skimmed and crack tested and so on.
Then early last year I had the mad idea to take it on "The Great Rally" a 2500 mile road trip deep into the alps and around many passes and back. It did incredibly well and even surprised many of other entries.
Before said road trip myself and mechanic pal did ALL the timing and aux belts, bearings (water pump just before I had the car). Rocker cover gaskets changed as spark plug holes had filled up with oil. Serviced. New brake pads all round including front brake pipes and handbrake cable. All lights working including fog lights. Many parts from Walkers and Tanc Barrett.
Fitted Koni front suspension, struts and normal height springs as one of the shocks was leaking also helped around the alps. Has a genuine K & N air filter that I have not long cleaned and reoiled, also original air box if preferred.
Bodywork, rear offside wheel arch lower corner was badly rusted and holed so got a repair panel and welded it in. At the same time the sills both sides had 2 x cans of cavity wax blown into them and then the whole underside was sprayed with good quality black stoneguard as you can see in pictures.
Bad points the bonnet is black as original wanted to fold itself over the roof one day, the rest of the drivers side rear arch now needs tlc, see picture. The corners on the roof of the sunroof are scratched with some sort of knife, it leaked when i got the car now it does not.
Alloy wheels need some tlc.
Interior, it"s all there and all works apart from some bulbs gone in roof section, air con works would recomend re gas. The seats show wear no rips though. There is a radio.
I"ve just had it MOT"d last month with only advisories on 2 x outer cv boots. Expires May 2017.
Many old MOT"s with a fair bit of history.
I have put the original wheels back on.
There is a draw from the battery which I think is related to the 90"s alarm fitted so I keep a trickle charger plugged into it.
It"s great fun to drive as you well know if you have owned a Thema and if you don"t know them so well, it has the same engine as the Lancia Delta Intergrale :).
So a very usable car and a fast becoming rare modern classic.
I also have many Thema spares from another car that we could come to a deal on, failing that will be listed in the next week or so.
